Cheryl Carpenter concentrates her practice in the areas of Family Law and Probate. In her family law practice, Cheryl regularly handles paternity, child custody disputes, child support, and dissolution proceedings. She often represents divorce clients with larger marital estates, and she is an experienced and skilled advocate for clients, whether their case is concluded by a negotiated settlement, trial proceeding in the courtroom, or at the appellate level.

Among other accomplishments since she joined the firm in 1986, Cheryl has been certified as a Certified Family Law Specialist by the Family Law Certification Board, an honor held by less then 100 practitioners in the State of Indiana. She has also trained in collaborative family law and is a family law mediator registered by the Indiana Supreme Court Commission for Continuing Legal Education. Cheryl is often appointed by Courts to advocate for children in difficult child custody cases as a Guardian Ad Litem. Before joining the firm, she was in solo practice and also practiced for several years with Legal Aid Senior Citizens Law Project.

Cheryl routinely represents individuals and families going through some of the most difficult times of their lives. She is an advocate for individuals and families in crisis and understands and relishes in her role of helping clients prepare for and cope with the anxiety and emotion that comes along with courtroom conflict.

personal statement
I believe a family lawyer plays an important role in the future dynamics of the family's relationship. I take this role very seriously; not only in advocating for my client's interests, but in assessing the long term impact that the outcome will have on the family.
