For over 35 years, Mary has lived with her family in Clark County and worked in the Southern Indiana area. Initially, Mary was a real estate broker. During that time she successfully helped her husband begin a business that still thrives over three decades later. Mary later worked in both the trust department and the loan department of a local bank while attending Bellarmine University, where she received her B.S. degree in Commerce, cum laude and was honored with the Wilson E. Wyatt Fellowship Award for Academic Excellence. Mary obtained her law degree from the University of Louisville in 1992 and began practicing with the firm of Smith Carpenter Law after clerking for Judge Clementine Barthold.
Over time, Mary has acquired broad experience representing individuals and small businesses in a wide range of legal areas including starting businesses, real estate, contracts, estate planning, guardianships, wrongful death, probate, social security disability, and family law including custody, visitation, support, paternity, adoptions, and relocation. You can rely on Mary’s years of experience and knowledge to help you sort out issues, consider options, devise a strategy, plan for the future, guide you through the complex process, and resolve legal disputes by settlement when possible, and when necessary, to aggressively represent you in the court room.
